The exact documents vary slightly depending on your license type (Basic, State, Central), but generally you need:

Common Core Documents:

​

  • Photo ID & address proof of the applicant (Aadhaar, PAN, Voter ID, Passport, etc.)

  • Passport-size photograph

  • Proof of business address (rent agreement or ownership proof)

  • Business registration proof (Proprietorship/Partnership/Company certificates)

  • List of food products handled

  • Declaration forms and nominations (e.g., Form IX for companies)

  • Food safety management plan or system document (if applicable)

  • NOC from local authority (if required)

  • Medical fitness certificates of staff (in some cases)

  • Water test report & other technical documents for manufacturers/processing units (if applicable)

Basic Registration has a simpler set of documents (photo, ID, address, basic business details). State/Central Licenses require more detailed operational documents.

Validity & Renewal:

  • Your FSSAI license/registration is valid for 1 to 5 years. You can choose the duration at the time of application.

  • Licenses must be renewed before expiry to remain valid (can be done online via FoSCoS).

​

Typical Time for Approval:

  • Basic Registration – ~7–15 days

  • State License – ~15–30 days

  • Central License – ~30–60 days
    (dependent on documentation & inspections)
